You may believe that you are completely familiar with the skills of your employees because of initial assessments completed before they were hired. However, it's likely that employees in your company will acquire new skills as they become familiar with the company and the skills required of them. You will probably expect employees to attempt to move into positions with more responsibility and different skill requirements, so it makes sense that you would want to test skills periodically to be sure your employees are moving ahead.
