Post Flowers Improve Well-Being   Sat Aug 13, 2011 12:49 pm

Many corporations have a clear and concise image of who they are, where they are, and ultimately where they want to be. Most corporations have an image of themselves or a brand; they draw on many disciplines to enhance this image. The texture, furnishing, lighting, workspace are all designed to project this image and create a sense of identity.

Great designs often boost office productivity, attract a richer client-base, improve an overnight stay, as in the case of a hotel, or private hospital. Corporations increasingly use flowers to lift the setting and create a mood of indulgence. Flowers with their rich colours and fabulous fragrances evoke a sense of well-being and enhance the quality of corporate life.

Flowers in a corporate setting allow you to send out a clear signal of what type of company you are. They can be big and bold...simple and understated....minimal and none invasive. Flowers create beauty and have a language all of their own.

According to business experts, the key to gaining and keeping the competitive edge in this difficult economy is to have a happy, productive workforce. Recent research finds that nature can hold the secret to business success. This research looks at the idea generation, creative performance and problem solving skills; it is thought that they improve substantially in workplace environments that include flowers and plants.

This is not a new phenomenon, we know the importance of how natural surroundings affect hospital patients for example, we all know how a bouquet of flowers can lift mood and energize.

There is a possibility that we as human beings may also be sensitive to the effects of floral social chemicals. Perfume manufacturers have harnessed our love of flowery perfumes and turned it into a multi-million pound industry....Flowers induct positive emotions, visually they are pleasing, olfactory they are appealing, flowers appeal to most of our senses.

This is not new to the Victorians.....During the Victorian-era flowers were used as a means of communication. Various flowers were used to send coded messages, thus allowing people to express feelings which could not be spoken about. An example of this to send a single red rose, which is still recognized as a declaration of love. People still send roses on Valentine's Day.

Corporate flowers fit an emotional niche, they elicit positive human emotion, they are rewarding to human beings. We use flowers as a means of celebration, at weddings, christenings, to say thank you and I love you...Flowers at work and at home improve emotional well-being...
