Why Islam Was So Right For Me

I found Islam (or rather, Islam came to me) after a search that took me
many years. I always have been a "spiritual" person, looking for the
truth, wherever it may be. It started with Christianity. My parents
said to me "be a Christian, it is the religion of your family and
community." I tried with my whole heart to believe in the trinity, and
to live by the words of Jesus, but deep down I knew it wasn't "THE
TRUTH." So I looked everywhere, and today after looking deeply into
every religion I can say without a doubt in my mind that Islam is the
only religion that works out when approached from all angels.

First of all, I know that there is a God. Weather you believe in
evolution or the big bang or whatever, it all had to start somewhere. I
feel that my existence by default means that there is an existence of
one who is greater than me. For a long period in my life I said I was
atheist but when I ask myself with no restrictions: is there a God?
then the answer I get is always "yes."

When I first came to
Islam I still considered myself an achiest, until I read the Koran. The
beauty and certainty of the words of the Koran sent two messages to me.

1. That if one follows and devotes his life to this book, then he will without a doubt be a good person.
2.
The only way we can define "good" is through a God, so naturally since
the Koran was so perfect it couldn't just be the words of a person.

I knew little about Islam other than from the Koran, but I am taking my
time and learning at a steady pace. As I have been learning, I feel
like my life has also just been falling more into place. I am far less
stressed out over the little things in my life, I've quit drugs, I feel
happier every single day. It's not that my problems disappeared in a
puff of smoke, it's just that when I look at it through this
perspective, I realized that the things my live circled around didn't
have to be problems at all, because of the central truth of Islam.

For me, though, the greatest thing about Islam is the feeling that I
have God's approval, that my actions are acceptable in God's eyes.
Because now I realize, if you don't live for God, what else is there to
live for?

That is the reason I chose Islam above any other religion or philosophy in the world
