Your dream team! Your first step should be getting a support team together. These are people to help you through this ordeal. You need to know that cancer is no longer a death sentence. That said; you have to be properly prepared in order to be one of the countless number of men and women who beat it.

Why this form of therapy? Radiation therapy is a form of cancer treatment that helps prevent the further spreading of tumors and also reduces the size of inoperable tumors. Radiation therapy treats cancer by using high energy to kill tumor cells. The goal is to kill or damage cancer cells without hurting healthy cells.

What to expect? The first thing you must understand is that with radiation treatments, different people have different complications. Consequently, one person may have little to only mild complications from treatment while another person may have a lot or even very severe reactions.

Since it does not currently exist, we can only prepare for the worse and hope for the best. In addition, the specific reactions a person may have depends on the state of their health when the treatment starts. That is why eating healthy is so vital.

How to minimize the negative. Some prime ways to minimize the impact of cancer treatment is to engage in proper nutritional eating habits, embrace family support and do something like practice yoga, or engage in some other activity that calms your mind and heart.

What are the side effects? In layman's terms there are essentially two kinds of radiation therapy side effects. They are classified as the early and the late. The early side effects are usually temporary and are marked by fatigue, hair loss and nausea. The late side effects often take years to develop and are often permanent such as heart or lung problems.

No energy? Fatigue is one of the more common cancer treatment. The feeling is described as chronic fatigue to the ninth degree. The fatigue renders some people unable to do perform normal tasks such as running errands, going to work and tending to your house and family.

Weighing the pros and cons! It is true that treatment is much better now. It has become more precise in terms of targeting the cancer treatment area. That said, any concerns should be weighed out by the benefits. What works well for one person may not work for another. It is best to consult your doctor and nutritionist before beginning any treatment.
