So you've finished creating that perfect painting with the very best art supplies but you're not sure how to show off your skills.

The majority of people are content to hang their art on the wall but this can be too conventional for those who are keen to discover adventurous ways to display their creations differently.

One unusual way to exhibit your art is to lean it against pieces of household furniture and this works best on side tables that are found in sociable places like a living room or private areas such as a bedroom.

If you want to display your art in this way, then it is important to make certain that the height of the paintings is not taller than the table you have selected because this will appear too strange and unsightly.

A general rule of thumb to follow is that your art should be approximately three quarters the length of your chosen table as this will allow people to fully appreciate the painting without thinking the surroundings too odd.

Other factors to consider are that the art display should be noticeable and should not face an area of the room where no person can view it properly because this would negate the purpose of creating it in the first place.

Alternatively you can always place your art on a chair and this works best with antique furniture which is located next to a doorway because people can view it whenever they enter or leave a room.

Using an antique chair to exhibit your art will benefit both the furniture and the painting especially if the work is both tall and narrow and reaches a person's eye level on viewing.

This display method is a great way to make a statement and it also works well when placing art on the top of cupboards and any other furniture which is deemed to be antique.

Another way to display art differently is to place your work on top of a console table which is usually found against walls in locations such as dining rooms, hall areas and bedrooms.

It is important to remember when putting any art on a type of table, is not to overlap it with anything else as this will detract from any impact that the work is intended to make.

Also it is appropriate to avoid a table with a slippery surface as this could potentially result in the painting falling off or being knocked over leading to irreparable damage.
