What in the World Is SEO Writing?

So often people are lost as to what kind of writing is out there to participate in. However, none so confusing as SEO writing. While yes, it is a term that many people have heard before; most people couldn't begin to tell you what SEO content writing involves. Fortunately, after you have read through this article, you should have a better understanding about what SEO writing is, and what would be expected of you when entering the wonderful world of becoming a SEO content writer.

First, let's focus on what SEO writing is. SEO stands for "search engine optimization". Generally, the job involves understanding how search engines such as Google or Bing work. Generally, the job of a SEO writer is to use the algorithms that these search engines use to become first, second, or third in the top search results, because as you know, most people will click on only the first couple of links available to them when performing a search. So, the goal is for most companies, to be one of those links that they click on to get their information, thus, driving their website traffic upward.

As a SEO content writer, it is of the utmost importance that you follow the guidelines given to you by the company that employs you. While you may be charged with finding out which phrases or words to include in your content writing, many companies will give you a list that was pre-compiled for you to include, this being the bane of most writers' existence. Fortunately, with a little creativity, you can include these search terms into your writing without skewing from your own personal preference in writing style!

Generally speaking, a SEO will need to understand, to some extent, html coding. While some companies will employ someone to inset the hyperlinks or content for the search engines to "catch", some will expect their SEO writers to do this themselves. So, if you're not familiar with at least some basic html, it is always wise to read up on it or take one of many classes available to learn this primal script language.

One thing that most SEO writers tend to forget is that you shouldn't mislead or lie to your readers. While it may be tempting to write something false, just to get the correct terms into your content, this is something that can, and will loose the company traffic. Bad word to mouth kills companies, and posting false information will not lend itself to a positive company light. Always hold the reader, or customer first! The best way to do this is to stay true to yourself, if you're unsure of how to enter in a specific term into your content, don't hesitate to get the opinions of others.

As with anything else in this world, practice makes perfect. The longer you are a SEO writer, the easier it will be for you to create seamless content with all of the search phrases embedded inside of your writing. This is the ultimate goal of all SEO writers. Practice, practice, practice!
