How to Nab a Gig in SEO Writing

As with any other job, SEO writing has its many benefits and perks. But, despite the perks, getting a job as a SEO content writer can become a difficult task, especially for a major corporation. But, what is SEO content writing exactly? Who can work in the SEO writing field?

Let's first touch on what SEO writing is, as it is impossible to nab a gig in a position you aren't educated in. SEO stands for "Search Engine Optimization". Essentially, you write the content for a website or websites that include key words that will help to pull the website and your writing to the top of the search results in any one search engine.

Much like any other writing style, you will need to be proficient in spelling and grammar. However, you will need to take it a step further when becoming a SEO content writer. The one thing you'll have to keep in mind is that you'll have to incorporate certain words or phrases that will help trigger the website to populate in search. Often times, it can also be combined with hyperlinks on each of these terms that have been chosen.

Often times, you will be given a list of words or topics that have to be included inside of your article or content writing. With the combination of your basic writing gig and SEO, you will typically make slightly more per writing assignment. However, that isn't to say that you will strike it rich by becoming a SEO writer. Though, it is possible to make a comfortable living, even as a freelance SEO writer.

Now that you've a better understanding of what SEO writing is, you are now willing and wanting to step into the wonderful world of SEO writing. Fortunately, it isn't nearly as difficult as it may sound, especially if you are trying to get a gig from a company that isn't quite on the commercial level yet.

When searching for SEO writing jobs or gigs, you will want to ensure that the offer isn't too good to be true. Sad but true, there are scam artists out there that would gladly take your information and leave you hanging high and dry without a promised SEO position. Look for reputable businesses or mom-and-pop Internet sites that have posted job listings for you to choose from. This will help you to narrow down your options and give you the best opportunity to become a SEO writer.

Remember, as with any other type of writing out there, with SEO writing you will be writing what your client wants. While this may be problematic for some of your more creative writers, it is indeed a great way to b ring in a little extra cash for just about anyone who has an Internet connection and a willingness to telecommute. Which, is probably the best thing about SEO writing, it can be done from home if you are working on a freelance basis. But, remember, these aren't the only SEO jobs out there. You can apply for corporate company positions as well, the sky, truly is the limit when searching for a SEO writing job.
